Today, more than ever, everybody has the social freedom to be himself. Therefore, the alibi of lie as an option for survival is easily confuted as an argument. The liar of the twenty-first century, ostensibly fatally, is driven through his actions into the so-called ‘the end’; soon if he is lucky. There, at the end of the journey, life waits to humiliate him. This is the highest punishment for a human being; neither hanging nor death. But the highest gift, too, if it comes with time, as long as there is time for change.
If, by any chance, the hypocrite comes across on his way a free, sincere, true man, he gets strewn with fury. It is like when matter meets its antimatter; such a painful mirror, as he can face the monster of his non-truth. The instinctive reaction of breaking the mirror only succeeds in multiplying its reflections and making the pain more acute.
This is where the dialogue on Art begins. Real Art is nothing more than an illustration of the Truth; conscious or unconscious aiming to become conscious. That's why Art raises fury more than any other social event. It does cause purification. That is why it is not just a need of human society. It must be its goal, in all its expressions and aspects. Art, even when society does not serve it, becomes the scalpel that cuts the rotten meat from the trauma of the collective soul and saves it from a certain death.
When real artists are unpleasant faces for their contemporaries, it is a clear indication that these societies are going through times that they cannot be healed. They still have way ahead until the final deadlock that will force them to make a decision. The number of people living as artists in a society is inversely proportional to the spiritual and, consequently, its total deadlock.
According to Aristotle, the Highest Art, is that of Life. It’s this that everybody should serve. In an ideal state, everyone lives as an artist. There is no lie, for no one serves calumny, i.e. the distortion of the real and its limitation in artificial patterns for the benefit of someone else. No one works, because all work with passion and absolute dedication to what they love. Everybody goes to the whole; towards the internal and external unity. This is love; The path to unity.
The human inherently bears the right and charisma to dream freely, to think realistically and to co-create the world. This is his mission. Instead of coming back from the real lands with his face broken, as Elytis wrote, he can live free in them forever.
Welcome the dawn. Literally and metaphorically
